About PETER SEARLE and UNCOMMON DESTINY

Uncommon Destiny

Who Am I? I'm a survivor of both cancer and corneal blindness ... and that's why I'm passionate about reaching out to help others reach their full potential !

18 million Americans are cancer survivors! 67 percent are cured of a cancer diagnosis! How did they arrive at beating cancer? Uncommon destiny is on a mission to communicate the message about cancer resiliency. We are often tossed into endurance tests against implausible odds of survival. We achieve goals by surrounding ourselves together with passionate "kind" individuals who are committed to achieving their own unlimited possibilities. We aim to raise funds and awareness for various causes, especially blindness (visually challenged) and cancer, especially Esophageal Cancer. I understand the importance of making a positive impact in our world today.

... in developing a precise 2020 Vision

Our inspired vision is to create a world where anyone can make a valuable difference, regardless of their financial situation. Although, for me, Peter Searle, I have experienced my own set of challenges that have tested me. In each moment, I never gave up, "remaining positive is greatly beneficial." I've achieved dramatic turnarounds and remain cancer-free. Along each step of the way, I battled with significant amounts of pain from a 5-inch-long tumor in the center of my body (the esophagus) for over 3+ years. I was unable to eat food for over a year (surviving only on a liquid diet of Ensure), until the triple modality of Proton radiation, Chemotherapy and Surgery was completed. I lost 75 pounds and regained it. It's important to convey the lessons learned and share experiences with others and to roundtable them .... on how we can arrive at successful outcomes. We all have life challenges, but often we don't discuss them long enough or find the right people to discuss their medical challenges. It's all about compassionate networking and to navigate through a highly stressful mirage of medical advancements.

Offering Solutions! I am a Survivor!

Miraculously, I was able to beat esophageal cancer, but it wasn't easy. In fact, it was often a bittersweet rollercoaster ride and an overwhelming nightmare of persistence. My goal today is to share some of its key decision-making "mountaintops," that I encountered .... making any wrong decision would have been my last. I was rescued and rewarded by the tiniest of margins - by only .01 cm. From the width of a hair ... the tumor (cancer) missed becoming stage 4 (metastatic). The tumor never breached through the wall of my esophagus, unable to spread most everywhere. Eventually, 2/3 of my esophagus was lifted out from inside my abdomen and chest, in a 7 hour robotic-assisted surgery (March 2023) at Memorial Sloan-Kettering in NYC. Without Dr. Molena's brilliant efforts and her team, with the miraculous use of robotics (Da Vinci Intuitive Systems) .... the results would have been frightfully not in my favor. Instead, with the help of scientists, physicians and nurses, the journey became a miraculous true life story of resiliency and recovery.
